Year 1 garden

Year 1 had a fantastic growing season in the school vegetable garden. They grew sweet William's, runner beans, leek, carrots, lettuce, marrows and pumpkins. The class also grew a bumper crop of new potatoes which they sold making a profit of £6 to buy new seed for next year.

Christmas Maths

Today we have been helping Santa deliver parcels to different houses on our street plan. We have had to use our knowledge of odd and even numbers and been able to follow and give instructions using language to describe the position of objects.

Gardening in Year 1

The different seeds we planted germinated well.

Lots of tedious weeding has been necessary.

It's not always easy to tell the weeds from the plants that
we want!
After the heavy rain the garden has become a jungle-
ideal for bug hunting!

Is that an ant in there?
Searching for bugs.
